Air Passenger Rights & Compensation by Country

  • Albania

If your flight to or from Albania gets delayed, cancelled within 14 days of your departure date, or you're denied boarding, you're entitled to help and money (if it's the airline's fault, not weather or strikes outside their control). You get a cash compensation between €250 and €600. This applies if:

    • you arrive 3+ hours late at your final stop,
    • you're denied boarding even with a valid ticket.

Even a shorter delay (e.g., 2 hours) from a cancellation can qualify if the replacement flight isn't good enough.

Also if the airline suddenly moves your departure forward by more than 1 hour without enough warning, it's treated like a cancellation.

While waiting, you have the right to:

    • drinks and snacks after 2–4 hours (depending on flight length),
    • proper meals soon after,
    • a hotel room plus transport to/from it if overnight,
    • and free calls/emails.

You can also choose a full refund (and return home if needed) or a new flight as soon as possible (or later if you prefer).

These rights cover all flights leaving Albania (any airline), flights arriving in Albania on a European airline, and connecting journeys (on the same booking) that start or end in Albania or another European country—even if part of the trip is outside Europe (delay on any leg can count if total arrival is more than 2-3 hours late).
